With sadness we announce the death of Kenneth Storer, who was for many years diocesan secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh. Eternal Memory!
The funeral, which will be taken by Bishop Basil of Amphipolis, will be on Tuesday 13 November at 10.30 a.m. in Westbourne, near Emsworth. Further details and directions here.

Report on the January Meeting of the Council of the Archdiocese

On 29-30 January 2007, His All-Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew visited London, and took part in the celebration of Evensong at Westminster Abbey. Bishop Basil of Amphipolis also took part, having been for some years a member of the International Commission for Anglican-Orthodox Theological Dialogue. The congregation was addressed by His All-Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew, and by Archbishop Rowan Williams. The Archbishop's address is available here, together with some photographs of the occasion; and the aAddress given by His All-Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew is available on the Archdiocese of Thyateira Website.

Orthodox Parish of the Annunciation, Oxford, adopts its new constitution

The first Vicariate Conference was held at St Andrew's church, Holborn on 18 November 2006. Around 150 people attended, including members of the Council of the Archdiocese from Paris. The speakers were Archbishop Gabriel of Comana and Bishop Basil of Amphipolis. A full report and photos will follow.
Reference was made to a Constantinople Lecture by Metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh on the 34th Apostolic Canon, which is available here.

The ordination of Ian Wallis to the priesthood took place in Lewes on 19 November.

Meeting in London between His Beatitude Patriarch Gregorios Greek Catholic Patriarch of Antioch, of Alexandria,of Jerusalem and All the East and H. E. Gregorios, Greek Orthodox Archbishop of Thyateira and Great Britain, together with His Grace, Bishop Basil of Amphipolis, 16 September, 2006

The first celebration of the Divine Liturgy took place with Bishop Basil of Amphipolis on Sunday 17 September at St Andrew's Holborn. Father Michael Fortounatto led the choir, and baptised the infant child of one of the congregation. The priest of the community is Fr John Lee. A member of the congregation gives a personal account.

The Community of St Nicholas, Dunblane, was received by Archbishop Gabriel of Comana on Saturday 16 September.

Archbishop Gabriel of Comana visited London on 15/16 September and was able to meet both with members of the laity in London, and with the Presbytery of the Vicariate.

The celebration of the Divine Liturgy will take place with Bishop Basil of Amphipolis on Sunday 17 September at St Andrew's Holborn. Thereafter it is hoped that, for the time being, the Liturgy will be celebrated on the first and third Sundays of the month. The priest of the community is Fr John Lee.

The Council of the Archdiocese met in Paris on 6 September, with Bishop Basil of Amphipolis present. For a report of the meeting, click here
